Renee Tanner is a talented and high energy leader. As the Director of Member Services for a leading health care firm, she has overseen customer service transformations, acquisitions of key business segments, opening new facilities and mergers. Renee as remained a consistently people-centered leader in all of her career stops and she continues to value people above processes.

Question: You have a great scope of responsibility at Catalyst. Please describe the overall scope of your job.

Answer: As a director of member services I am one of 3 directors that provide leadership for the department overall with a primary focus on the Las Vegas facility. During the last 12 months I have been focusing on the acquisition and integration aspect of our business. I facilitate the transition of the customer service functions for our acquisitions from a people and facility perspective. I recently completed two facilities, one in Orlando, FL and the other in Bannockburn, IL on behalf of our Walgreens acquisition.

I also provide leadership training and development opportunities through my knowledge and expertise or by bringing in an outside company. Another passion of mine is to create and define our culture. I have been instrumental in developing ACT, Accountability, Communication, Trust and Teamwork. As a member of the core committee we meet regularly to engage and inspire opportunities for growth. As a result we have seen a tremendous shift in our employee morale and engagement.

Leadership Tip of the Month:

Focus: Courage and Risk Taking

Tip: Courageous Conversations

No one enjoys providing corrective feedback or discussing why someone's career is stalled but these discussions are crucial to the success of an organization and individual team members.

Overcome any fear of confrontation and deal with these discussions as needed and when needed. It is your responsibility as a leader to do so. Take a deep breath and discuss the difficult.
