Leadership Insight:

Leadership and Baseball

By Tim Schneider

The Dodgers are tanking.  The Yankees are surging.  Hope runs high in Chicago.  The Devil Rays and Nationals are the Devil Rays and Nationals.  This is a great time of year to remember the great connections between America’s pastime and leadership.  Read the Entire Article:

Human Resource Insight:

Employment at Will

By Phillip Hollon

In the United States, the doctrine of “employment at will” or “at-will employment” essentially means an employee hired for an indefinite period may be discharged for any or no reason, cause or no cause, unless specifically prohibited by law. Organizational Tip for the Month:

Succession and Promotion

Not everyone wants a promotion.  Not everyone has the skill level to be promoted.  Some people are quite satisfied with their current job assignments and that is great.

Does that mean we no longer invest in growth and development for those people?  Of course not.  It is the objective of that activity that changes.  Rather than focus on promotion, development activities focus on satisfaction and success within the current job function.
